You can make all the phone holders you want, masks, stuff to make your life easier with a 3d printer. I've thought so many times about picking up and seeing what I could make with it. But these girl scouts take the cake....or cookie.
Eight 3rd grade Girl Scouts in Dorchester, Massachusetts used nearly $200 from cookie sale profits to create a 3D-printed toddler mobility trainer wheelchair.
So how long does making this take you ask? 200 hours of printing time, but less than an hour for the girls to assemble. So cheap and fast, and it will help someone, and that's cool.
So where did they get the inspiration/idea to do this? The girls were inspired after visiting The Boston Home, a residential care center for adults with neurological conditions, where they became "obsessed" with wheelchairs, and the multicolored mobility trainer features an adjustable headrest, cup holder, and removable push handle.
Eventually the girls are going to use more cookie money to build a motorized wheelchair.
So next time you're leaving Lowes or see kids selling cookies. Before you say "NO" just keep in mind kids are amazing and they can do anything they put their minds to. So you may help while gaining a few extra lbs.
