Is New Car Smell Dangerous On A Hot Day

A new study found that the compounds responsible for the beloved “new car smell” could actually pose risks to drivers and passengers…especially on hot days.

Researchers found that when the interior of a car was hotter, more of these compounds were emitted. This could be why “new car smell” tends to be stronger on hotter days. It also calls into question the importance of air quality in vehicles, as we spend about 5.5% of our lives in vehicles. While some of these compounds are harmless, others are linked to lung disease.
