It's the same ol song and dance. You wake up in the morning and you start the hunt. For your phone, glasses, credit cards and Keys? Most of us are always looking for these missing items, and the keys seem to be the top of the list. Turns out forgetfulness my be treiggered by pressure filled situations.
Psychologist Noor Mubarak explains that being able to remember where we left things can be affected by things like feeling more stressed, having too many things to focus on at once and a lack of sleep and being overly tired. So for all the losers out there who are tired of always trying to find their keys, these tricks may help keep you from losing them and save your sanity in the process.
- Give everything a home - Prevent the problem from happening in the first place by having a designated space for essentials, like a hook or bowl near the door for your keys. After putting them in the same place for a while, it will become a habit and you won’t even have to think about it.
- Hold off on sitting down - After a long day, before you take off your shoes, bra and settle in on the couch to relax, put your keys in the correct spot so you won’t have to look for them in the morning.
- Go big - Noor suggests using something large and eye-catching as a keychain to make your keys easier to find both around the house or inside your cluttered bag.
- Call in backup - As a backup plan, Noor advises having a spare set of keys that are only for emergencies. And when you do use them, return them to their safe place ASAP.

- Calm down - Remember that stress can negatively impact your memory, so when you’re in a hurry and you’re rushing around to find your keys, it’s not an ideal situation. Instead try to remain as calm as possible and have a plan B for these situations, like using your backup set of keys. And don’t beat yourself up over being forgetful, it’s not helpful, but building better habits to prevent it from happening again definitely is.
