Morning Habits That Actually Ruin Your Sleep

The CDC says 1 in 3 Americans do NOT get get enough sleep. Are you one of these people? Well there may be some reasons why your decisions you make in the morning can affect your sleep:

You’re drinking too much caffeine. Yes, even if you’re drinking it in the morning, too much caffeine can affect you later at night. The caffeine is still in your body hours after you drink it; it can take up to 10 hours to clear from your bloodstream.

You’re waking up at totally different times every day. Even on weekends, try to wake up at a similar time each day. If you sleep later on Sunday, you may not be tired until later than usual, throwing off your bedtime.

You’re not exposing yourself to natural light. Being exposed to bright light in the morning can help you have an earlier bedtime. It’ll make you more sleep and ready for rest in the evening.

You’re not making a to-do list. It’ll help you stay on track throughout the day and help combat anxiety that tends to creep up on you as you’re trying to fall asleep.

You’re glued to your phone. If you check your phone as soon as you wake up, you are letting what you see on your phone dictate the tone of your day, rather than setting it yourself.

So if you find yourself getting bad sleep, maybe start with a few of these changes to get better rest that your body needs.
