If you listen to music, you've probably had a song stuck in your head that you can't get rid of. Well, now one doctor has revealed a way to clear your brain of that earworm, and it just may surprise you.
There was an Australian scientist named Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki, and he was asked how to get rid of an earwrom for a woman who had Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" stuck in her head. The Dr revealed one of the simplest ways to get that song out of there is by chewing gum., noting that it helps distract your brain. He srared, "for some unknown reason, the same pathways in your brain that are used for programming your repeated jaw movement are also used for replaying music in your mind."
The Dr. also suggested a few other ways to get rid of an earworm, including the rinsing of the brain of a song by playing it repeatedly, or going cold turkey on that piece and not listening to it at all. You can read to yourself to help, listen to a different song or play an instrument.
Apparently not all songs can be earworms. Dr. Kruszelnicki says they're usually tunes from one's culture and they are normally faster than other tunes. Lots of repetition and 'Unusual features also add to it getting stuck in your head.
The real thought here is, at least it's a song you like. Sucks it lives rent free on your brain, but it could always be worse. Remember "Baby Shark?"
