OU Student Goes Viral On TikTok Because Of Her Dance Shoes

Dreams do come true. An OU Ballet student went viral on TikTok and got over a million views of her unboxing a new pair of pointe shoes that were made just for her.

OU freshman, Kira Robinson is now not only getting noticed on campus, but everywhere for her video going viral. "This is so exciting because this means I don't have to pancake my shoes anymore." So what does that mean? Well for the longest time, Kira's skin tone wasn't available in her pointe shoes, so she would take makeup and color them before she would dance. So now, she no longer has to take that step, as she steps out to create her beautiful art of dance.

“I think that diversity is super important and the ballet world needs to recognize that and start making progress and do more to include people of color and, you know, brown ballerinas,” said Robinson.

Robinson said her TikTok has brought on a whole new level of attention, and she said it could even open up an opportunity with the brand Suffolk, that created the pointe shoes.

“We’re planning on doing a photoshoot together,” said Robinson. “Yeah, I’m really excited about that because I love Suffolk. I love the company. They’re really great and they’re really great people, as well.”

She's already on to her 2nd pair of shoes and says she wants to be a professional ballerina in the future.
