We all share way WAY too much on social media, but some people don't even realize that they are puttin gthemselves in danger with one simple picture. It comes from when you're celebrating a huge purchase, and should be a really happy time.
After people buy a new home, a lot of people love to mark the occasion by posting photos of their keys online, but a TikToker named Cathy Padrayes recently warned folks against doing this period. In her posts, with over 8 million views, she says posting a picture of your keys is so dangerous because there are "computer programs that allow you to recreate" keys with a photo. She goes on to say "Treat your keys like you would any private information, and don't post them."
So how are those brand new keys made? Well there is an app KeyMe, which does say it can make a copy of keys from a photo, but recent comments on the app store say that function has been removed. But it's not just apps that can allow folks to get copies of keys, and here is another video just showing you who you can make a copy of your keys using your phone camera, heavy plastic, and a quarter.
Long story short. Unless it's a cute pet video or a video of a family member falling off of a ladder, don't post it.
