The loss of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi, and 7 other passengers in a helicopter accident has the the basketball world, and beyond, in mourning. But, the level of heartbreak in the NBA community is like none we've ever seen. Russel Westbrook is no exception. He finally broke his silence early Saturday morning saying, "I’ve been stuck and not really knowing how to put all that I’ve been feeling into words over the past several days. I am devastated about the passing of Kobe & Gigi, on every level." Growing up in the Los Angeles area, Russ' first contact with Kobe was as a 16 year old playing against Bryant in a pick up game at UCLA. Playing against Kobe helped Westbrook adopt his "Mamba Mentality" to work, play, and live life giving nothing less than 100%. Westbrook is just one of so many who were inspired by Kobe.
