First Wahlburgers is coming to Oklahoma. Now it's a hoax. But is it? Could it still be coming? Let us explain.
When word broke yesterday that Wahlburgers, the restaurant chain owned by THE Mark Wahlberg, THE Donnie Wahlberg, and the other one (just playing...) and THE chef Paul Wahlberg, was coming to our very own Moore, OK, we were as excited to visit as these ladies.
Moore Ward 2 Council Member Mark Hamm was the hero who made the announcement Tuesday on Facebook saying Wahlburgers is "Coming to Moore on SW 19th Street in front of Target." But today he posted this:
What the heck! We were already dreaming of eating a burger with these guys:
So, is our dream of hunky Wahlbergs serving up hunky burgers in OK over. Maybe not. I'm ready to disclose a little behind the curtain info about the public relations business, based on our personal experience.
At least once (OK, maybe more than once) we've been given information about a major concert coming to Oklahoma, and threw the info on-air and on our blogs, only to get a big fat cease and desist saying, "HEY IDIOTS! WE DON"T WANT THAT INFO RELEASED YET!!!" At that point we'd take all the info off of our website, and shut our mouths until the official announcement. Sound similar?
We're not saying this is what is happening here. But why would a Moore city official very confidently announce that Wahlburgers is coming, even give the location, only to retract such statement the next day? Where would he even dream up such a thing? I don't know, maybe because IT'S ACTUALLY TRUE!!!
Are the Wahlberg bros looking like in this picture below saying, "Crap, our Oklahoma locations secret is out. RETRACT! RETRACT!?"
Time will tell. But we're sticking with the story until we see another chicken strip restaurant in what was the rumored Moore Wahlburgers location
