The bishop who officiated Aretha Franklin's funeral apologized for touching Ariana Grande onstage. She performed "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," and when Bishop Charles H. Ellis III greeted her after, he put his arm around her and touched one side of her breast. Images of the moment went viral and drew criticism. The preacher later told the Associated Press, "Maybe I crossed the border, maybe I was too friendly or familiar but again, I apologize...I hug all the female artists and the male artists." The bishop also said onstage: "When I saw Ariana Grande on the program, I thought that was a new something at Taco Bell." That comment too drew backlash, and he added to his apology: "I personally and sincerely apologize to Ariana and to her fans and to the whole Hispanic community."
