Have you ever been on a cruise? They're not terrible unless you get sick on the boat and kicked off in Mexico. Different story I never care to tell again. But If you go on a cruise, they have all the food you can eat, and lots of drinks. But you will pay a premium for them.
But how could you get paid by your excess? Drink 14 shots of tequila (probably trying to make the drink package worth it.) and then suing the cruise. Ahh, the American way.
But for serious, some lady did this and got paid $300k!! Is it their fault? Well....
Diana Sanders, a 45-year-old nurse from Vacaville, received at least 14 tequila shots over 8.5 hours during a January 2024 voyage on Carnival Radiance departing Los Angeles. So after suing the cruise line a Miami jury determined Carnival was 60% at fault while Sanders bore 40% responsibility. How? Because they served her? What do I know I guess.
She allegedly fell an hour after her final drink, suffering concussion, possible traumatic brain injury, back injuries, tailbone damage, headaches, and bruising. Her attorneys claimed Carnival deliberately encourages alcohol consumption by strategically placing bars throughout ships.
Carnival plans to appeal. Ummmm....Ya think?
