If you won the lottery, would you/could you keep it a secret? There are a lot of people that say what they would do, but I would totally hide the fact that I won. Only because when money gets involved, people act different. I don't need that in my life, and maybe you don't either.
But I think there are a lot of people who would hide their big win.
A study of 2,000 people found winners fear loan requests, media attention, and jealousy from others, and this is what worries me about a big win. Like I said, people act different when money comes into the picture.
People worry most about damaged relationships, privacy loss, and judgment over spending choices.
But like I said there would be signs if I ever won.
I would invite you, and your family on a 7 day cruise. All expenses paid, with drinks, gambling, special dinners. You name it and I'm paying for it. After the 7 day cruise ends, I'll get in front of the people I brought with me to talk to everyone in attendance. Right there on the dock. I would ask if everyone had a great time, did you make a lifetime of memories? Best vacation ever right? Then I hit everyone with my speech. "I just gave you a lifetime of memories, with the jackpot I won on the lottery. Take these moments you've made and share your stories for years to come. But please, since this was all paid for. Respect my wishes and never ask me for another thing."
Then I would get on another boat and sail off into the sunset. Sounds amazing right? Now I just have to win.
See you on the water.
