How Long Do People Wait To Make Repairs At Their Home?

I had a flood in my house a week or 2 ago. My house is a wreck, and after getting a general contractor to do his estimate, because that's what the insurance people said to do, we're still waiting on the insurance people to either come out, or pay for the repairs. Isn't it fun?

So we want this part of our lives to just be over. Contractor is ready to go, so why are we sitting in the mess still? So many people wait to fix their homes when something like this happens. A lot delay it for 16 months +, and I can't do this for 16 months. So why do they wait that long?

Main reasons for delays include issues not feeling urgent, time constraints, and repair costs (that's me). Three in 10 homeowners say waiting costs more money later. Delayed repairs cost homeowners an average of $400 extra.

So do yourself a favor. If there is something wrong at your place.....FIX IT. It's going to cost you your time, more money and sanity. Keep the fights on the low and just get it done and do it the right way and you'll see, life will be easier when your home is working the right way!!
