A 90-year-old grandma named Ruth, who went viral for sharing her new policy in life after losing her home in the devastating LA county fires, is inspiring us to live more simply.
In the now-viral video shared by her granddaughter, Ruth said: "I'm going to be changing my life and simplifying it. I don't need all this stuff, I know it's not important. I don't mean I won't have fun and enjoy myself, but I won't just go buy stuff and I'll think about it a lot."
Her insight has led tons of us to ask how much of the stuff in your home do you actually need?
Here's a list of a few items people are now getting rid of in an attempt to live simply:
- USER MANUALS (They are all online at this point)
- OLD REMOTES
- SINGLE SOCKS THAT NO LONGER HAVE A MATCH
- TAKE OUT MENUS (Again, all online)
- TAKE OUT UTENSILS
- EXERCISE EQUIPMENT YOU DO NOT USE
- TOTE BAGS (If you look, you have 20 of them)
- WATER BOTTLES WITH MISSING LIDS
- DRIED NAIL POLISH
- CLOTHES WITH HOLES IN THEM
- PENS (how many do you need?)
- MYSTERY KEYS
- OLD PHONE CASES
- ALLEN WRENCHES THAT COME WITH EVERY PIECE OF FURNITURE YOU BUY
- EARBUDS THAT DON’T FIT YOUR PHONE
