Alicia Keys Teases 2019 Grammys Will Be Unlike Any Other

Alicia Keys is setting out to make the 61st Grammys on Sunday, February 10, all about celebration and the power of music. The 15-time Grammy winner phoned into On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Friday, February 8, and teased that the award show will also be unlike any previous year.

“By the time you get there you can sometimes feel just a little tense and I really want to create the energy to let people’s shoulders drop, let everybody just really feel the celebration,” Keys shared. “And also celebrate each other because this is such an amazing opportunity we have, the gift of music to share … so I think people will also be relaxed more than they ever have [at the Grammys before].”

Keys teased that there’s “a lot” that’s going to go down, including a bevy of surprises from the songstress herself.

“I feel like the amount of energy that I’m holding and containing … I definitely might need to be carried out by like a group of 10 people and just like fanned,” she joked of her hosting duties.

Primarily, the songstress added, she wants to celebrate all the nominees and especially those who are just now receiving the proper recognition.

“There’s so many women that are nominated and so deserving,” Keys concluded. “So many people who maybe haven’t received their just-do properly … I really am looking forward to that being the ultimate celebration of people who are so deserving of recognition really get it. … So that’s the vibe … we’re going to have a ball.”
