Oklahoma City Police Release Details After Officer Is Shot & Suspect Killed

The Oklahoma City Police Department shared an update Thursday on the officer involved shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon which many were following on social media after learning that an OKC Police Officer was shot while responding to a call in Southeast Oklahoma City.

Update to Officer-Involved Shooting #2 / Homicide #12 of 2022

Date & Time: 3/2/2022 at 5:50 PM

Location: SE 21st & Emco Dr.

Involved Officer: Officer Bryce Sheehan – Three years of service

Suspect (Deceased): Wilson, Crasteven Kennon (B/M, DOB:7/9/1998)

Narrative:  The deceased suspect has been positively identified as 23-year-old Crasteven Wilson.

ORIGINAL NEWS RELEASE

Narrative: On 3/2/2022 at approximately 5:50 PM, Officer Bryce Sheehan was dispatched to a disturbance/suspicious person in the 2300 block of S. Kate. Officer Sheehan located the person in the 2100 block of Emco Dr.

As Officer Sheehan approached him and attempted to perform a pat search, the suspect immediately drew a pistol and opened fire on Officer Sheehan at close range, striking the officer in the leg. As Officer Sheehan was returning fire, the suspect ran to the officer’s car and attempted to steal it, but then fled on foot.

A police drone spotted the suspect hiding outside of a nearby residence. Officers quickly took him into custody and began rendering aid after discovering he had been shot. The suspect later died at an area hospital. Currently, we are still trying to verify the suspect’s identity.

Officer Sheehan was treated and released from OU Medical Center. He has been placed on routine administrative leave.
