Sad news for Live PD fans today. One day after the news of COP's being cancelled we found out that Live P.D. is also being cancelled. The decision was made by A&E and MGM's Big Fish Entertainment, which produces the show according to deadline.com.
The show was a huge ratings winner for A&E on Friday and Saturday night beating their competition on a regular basis. It was one of A&E's most popular programs and was just renewed for another 160 episodes last month.
The show also featured a little bit of Oklahoma each week as fellow Oklahoman, Sean 'Sticks' Larkin from the Tulsa Police Department, was one of the shows co-hosts after appearing on the show as an officer when the show first started.
A&E released the following statement to Deadline.com regarding the news saying:
“This is a critical time in our nation’s history and we have made the decision to cease production on Live PD,” the network said in a statement to Deadline. “Going forward, we will determine if there is a clear pathway to tell the stories of both the community and the police officers whose role it is to serve them. And with that, we will be meeting with community and civil rights leaders as well as police departments.”
Co-Host Dan Abrams also confirmed the news of the cancellation on Twitter saying:
"Shocked & beyond disappointed about this. To the loyal #LivePDNation please know I, we, did everything we could to fight for you, and for our continuing effort at transparency in policing. I was convinced the show would go on. . More to come. . ."
It was only one day ago that Dan Abrams was posting on Twitter that the show would definitely be back too.
