It goes into effect on January 1st as part of a federal rule. They'll be required to list the prices of all services they provide so the public can review them. The fact that we'll be able to "price shop" hospitals I'm hoping will lead to lower costs and competition but I'm probably too hopeful. Maybe someone will charge $20 for a band-aid instead of $60 once this starts. This should be interesting either way...
