For those following along my BTS journey started over a year ago with my now 16 year old daughter. She's a HUGE BTS fan (ARMY for sure). Because of her I knew about their new album coming out. I listened to the album when it came out and saw all of the social buzz for a song called "DNA" so I decided to play it during my show on KJ103 to see how Oklahoma would react to it. I'll never forget what happened afterwards. I was seeing a ton of videos on Twitter from our listeners recording themselves listening to it. Everything from pure excitement to tears. We immediately put it into regular rotation after that.

We then got news BTS was teaming up with Steve Aoki and Desiigner for a REMIX of "Mic Drop" to be released around their confirmed performance on the American Music Awards. Like many, I was really curious to know what this song would sound like? Would it be close to the original? Would it be completely different? I then received a call telling me that someone would be coming by on November 9th to play us the song before it even comes out! That day has now come and gone but I was told we were the first radio station in the US to hear the song because of our support of "DNA". It's safe to say at this point that I'm part of the #BTSArmy and becoming a big fan myself.
Alright ... so what do I think about the "Mic Drop" Remix?! I heard it multiple times and I can tell you that it got better each time. I wish I could go into specifics but I was asked not to share very specific details. I like my job so I'm going to honor that request and tell you what I can without telling you what I can't.
Here's what I can tell you about the 'Mic Drop' Remix. As many online websites around the world are apparently quoting me as saying, yes it definitely is "LIT" hahaha. The original "Mic Drop" sounded really good but this song takes everything up a level (or two). The energy and production are next level. In fact, I had to hear it multiple times to even take it all in because it was that crazy! I also don't think there's any other song we are playing (that is new) which has the energy or tempo that this song does. This song is going to make people with no rhythm (AKA me) try and dance.
Final Thoughts ... I think BTS fans are going to lose their mind over it and I think those who don't know who BTS are will be wondering who sings this song. Is this the song that will make them household names in the US? I can't answer that but I hope so. BTS deserves to dominate the globe as far as I'm concerned. Oh, and their fan base is one of the most passionate and active that I've ever seen.
