An upcoming taco festival in Oklahoma City has been canceled after hosts feared that it would be a dud.
The Oklahoma City Dodgers announced on Wednesday, September 8, that it will no longer host Saturday's Taco and Margarita Festival at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark after learning about complaints about the festival's organizers.
"We agreed to book this event with the third-party promoter months ago. Since that time, additional information came to light regarding the ability of the third-party promoter to deliver on the event experience that was promised to ticket purchasers at similar events in other cities. What we have learned makes it clear that a similar event in Oklahoma City would not meet our expectations for hosting events in our ballpark," reads the Dodgers' website.
Organizer AZ Food Festivals promised an event with multiple taco trucks, drink options, and live entertainment. The company has held taco festivals in other cities earlier this year, but the events did not go as planned.
"It was the saddest thing I’ve ever been to," Eric Zyvith told CBS Pittsburgh after attending a taco festival in Washington, Pennsylvania, organized by AZ Food Festivals.
Attendees at the Pennsylvania event and similar festivals in Buffalo, New York, and Des Moines, Iowa, have all complained about long lines, a lack of food and drink options, poor planning, and limited perks for VIP ticket holders.
