Halsey Apologizes For Sharing Graphic Eating Disorder Photo

Halsey says she “had positive intentions” when she shared a graphic image depicting her eating disorder.

On Monday (December 28), the “Strangers” singer took part in a “post a photo of” Instagram Stories trend in which the star asked followers which images they wanted to see. Halsey unintentionally caused controversy after sharing a photo revealing the effects of her eating disorder in response to a fan asking the musician to post a picture of her “at your lowest point.”

“TW: ED, ask for help,” the “Graveyard” artist captioned the topless mirror selfie of herself appearing very thin. The photo has since been deleted.

When she realized some fans were triggered by the image, Halsey took to Twitter to issue an apology.

“TW: disordered eating. I am very sorry for posting a photo of myself depicting my struggle with ED without a sufficient trigger warning,” the 26-year-old tweeted. “I was very nervous to post it and didn’t think properly. I had positive intentions. I would never want to harm someone who shares my struggle.”

She continued, “With that being said im gonna log off now because this has turned into something I am not emotionally equipped to handle for the time being. I hope that’s okay.”
