Harrisburg Elementary School P.E. teacher Lauren Watts didn’t hesitate when eight-year-old student Georgie Emerson asked her if he could jump rope. It may sound like a simple request, but because Georgie is in a wheelchair, Watts had to figure out how to make it happen.
Watts got behind his wheelchair, using her ribs to push and her arms to swing the rope around Georgie and his wheelchair, rolling them over the rope. Now Georgie hopes other kids will see the video of him jumping rope and be inspired.
“I just want to help other kids,” he explains. “Because some kids like me are actually having trouble finding their place.”
