Spotify announced that 'Despacito' was its most-played songs of the summer, with 786 million streams since the first day of the season on June 21st. The song's streaming performance shouldn’t come as a big surprise: It has also been at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for 16 consecutive weeks, tying with Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” for most consecutive weeks in the top spot. However, Taylor Swift’s new single “Look What You Made Me Do” is expected to block it from breaking the record next week. Coming in at No. 2 on Spotify is DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts” featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, which famously samples Santana’s guitar riff from 1999’s “Maria Maria.” French Montana has the third most popular song of the summer, according to Spotify, with “Unforgettable.”
