Madonna Stops Auction Of Her Stolen Items

Madonna went to court to stop an auction of some her personal items that she says were stolen. The auction was supposed to start yesterday, but a judge agreed to grant her an emergency court order halting the auction.

Items up for sale at the Gotta Have It Rock And Roll auction included, among other things, a letter Tupac Shakur wrote her from prison, as well as a hairbrush and some worn underwear. In the court documents, Madonna named Darlene Lutz, described as a “frequent overnight guest” to Madonna’s home, as the person who took the items, but Lutz insists they are hers to sell and plans to go to court over it.

“Madonna and her legal army have taken what we believe to be completely baseless and meritless action to temporarily halt the sale of Ms. Lutz’s legal property,” a spokesman for the auction house says. “Madonna’s allegations will be vigorously challenged and refuted in a court of law in due course. We are confident that the Madonna memorabilia will be back.”

A hearing on the case is expected to take place in September.
