Some people seem to be questioning Katy Perry’s new look and new sound on her album “Witness,” which she finds very frustrating.
She tells the “New York Times” that the negative press about her musical awakening is a “maddening game,” which she can’t seem to understand. She says, “They want you to stand for something, but once you do, and if you don't do it perfectly, they're ready to take you right down."
But Katy is standing by the changes she made in her music, admitting she’s now showing fans her true self. “Every day when I think I know something, the universe shows me that I need to learn another lesson,” she says. “So I stand here today, more so than any other day, saying I know nothing. I literally know nothing.”
As for the “old” Katy, she notes, "I didn't kill her, because I love her, and she is exactly what I had to do then,” adding, “And I'm not a con artist, I didn't con people, like, that was just me. And this is me now."
