We all assume that airplane food is “iffy” but drinks are safe right? Maybe not!
A report that asked attendants about onboard food and drink revealed something unexpected, the hot water on a plane may be gross. If you order hot tea or coffee, the water comes from tanks. Those tanks are cleaned, but the attendants have no idea when or how often.
So, while sodas and anything bottled are fine nothing using that mystery tank water is certain to be okay.
While the water in the tank needs to meet EPA standard, the tank cleaning is a whole other story. There is “broad discretion” on maintenance.
Long story short: don’t drink the water!
