The attack at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England that left 22 dead and several more injured has left many people questioning how exactly something like this could have happened. Well, some people who attended the concert are blaming the arena.
Many fans say security was lax at Manchester Arena, with one concertgoer, Nikola Trochtova, telling the Czech public radio, "There was almost no security check, rather zero,” adding, “The only thing they were interested in was if we had any bottles of water with us. They almost didn't check our bags, they didn't take a look."
Other folks took to Twitter to reiterate the lack of security, with one person saying security at the arena is “horrendous,” noting, “Only a bag check, no metal scanners or pat downs for anyone entering through the Manchester Victoria entrance of the arena.”
The attack actually occurred Manchester Arena’s City Room, which the venue says is actually owned by the city and not part of the arena, although it us commonly used to sell merchandise before a show and to advertise other shows. The arena has been saying the attack occurred in a public area not connected with the venue, but that’s not exactly true. While this may seem like a simple technicality, it could become an issue with eventual lawsuits. If the venue was controlling the area, it could leave folks questioning why security wasn’t better in that area.
