You probably wouldn’t know it by the way he sings now, but Ed Sheeran had a stutter when he was a child, and he says he was able to overcome it thanks to Eminem. During an interview on the U.K. radio show Desert Island Discs, Ed said rapping along to Em’s “The Marshall Mathers LP” cured him.

“My parents didn't know the content of the album, and I must have been nine when it came out," he said. "And when you're nine and someone is saying rude stuff, you wanna learn it. So I learned all of the album back-to-back and he raps at such a fast pace that my stammer would go when I rapped."

Considering how important that album was, it’s not surprising that when the interviewer asked him to choose which songs he’d take with him on a deserted island, Em’s “Stan” made the list. Other songs included Elton John's “Indian Sunset,” Damien Rice's “Volcano” and Stevie Wonder's “They Won't Go When I Go.
