Ed Sheeran latest album, “÷” (“Divide”), just set a new record on YouTube. Before the album’s release, Ed released lyric and official videos for his two singles, “Shape of You” and “Castle," on the Hill,” and when the album dropped on Friday he added 14 audio videos for the rest of the tracks. Well, in the first two days of their release, all those videos have now amassed one billion views on YouTube combined.
“Shape of You” is responsible for quite a bit of those views, with the lyric video being watched 395.5-million times and the official video at around 296.2-million views. The audio clips for the other songs each have at least three million views, with most at about 5-million.
But that’s not all, thanks to the new songs, Ed’s YouTube channel has added more than three million subscribers in the last two months.
