NBC has reportedly been in talks with producers FremantleMedia about the possibility of bringing back American Idol. Sources caution, however, that a deal isn’t very likely — as NBC already has both fall and spring seasons of The Voice, plus America’s Got Talent -- the top-rated summer variety show. Idol creator Simon Fuller, however, has never been shy about his desire to place the show elsewhere. As soon as it ended last year, he was already talking about how the competition series will likely look different when it eventually returns. "There are loads of ideas being shared, and I’m deep in thought about how we can evolve Idol," he said last year. "We debuted at the very beginning of the digital world. So the next generation of Idol will be a lot more interactive, a lot more immersive."
