You wouldn't think the Heisman Trophy winning Quarterback from OU would need to resort to tricky tactics to get a girl to go out with him, but according to an article by ESPN's Mina Kimes our own Baker Mayfield did just that to get the attention of his new wife Emily Wilkinson (now Mayfield.) Himes article states that Emily was "wary of dating a punk football player" and ignored Mayfield's advances for months.
So how did Baker get her attention? He repeatedly followed and unfollowed her on Instagram, constantly pinging her to keep himself top of mind.
The article states that finally, in late December, they exchanged messages. He begged her to meet him before the Rose Bowl, his final college football game. She reluctantly agreed to grab lunch. Six months later they were engaged.
But, should we be surprised that the 2 time walk on, Heisman winner, number one pick in the NFL draft would do whatever it took to WIN the heart of the love of his life? Naaaaaaaaah.
