Demi Lovato Admits She Was Suicidal At A Young Age

Demi Lovato has always been open about her struggles with her mental health, and in a new interview with Dr. Phil she reveals that she actually felt suicidal when she was very young.

"The very first time I was suicidal was when I was seven. I had this fascination with death," she shares. "I have experienced things that I have not talked about, and I don't know if I ever will talk about. But at seven, I knew that if I were to take my own life, that the pain would end."

And that wasn’t the only time she ever had such thoughts. "It came back several times -- when I was struggling with depression, my bipolar disorder,” she offers. “And there was a while there when my mom was afraid to wake me up in the mornings because she didn't know if she opened the door if I would be alive or not.”

Although Demi has been sober for six years, she admits that she still has an “everlasting addiction” to food, noting that her eating disorder “is something that I deal with on a daily basis.” She adds, "But I'm growing, and I'm in a really good place today."
